Our Approach
Altera Law Group conducts an active patent prosecution practice through its attorneys and agents registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO). The patent prosecution practice includes preparation of patent applications, prosecution of the applications, and foreign counterpart application filing and prosecution.
In addition to making sure the paperwork is filed correctly, we work with you to make sure your business objectives are achieved. If appropriate, we offer opinions that give you the clearance to develop technology in certain critical areas. We help you carve out areas of exclusivity where you may practice your technology freely. Alternatively, we help you fence in competitors to keep them from getting too close to your areas of critical competency.
We also can help you with international patent prosecution practice. We handle Paris Convention filings of applications that originate in the United States. We also handle filings in the PTO of applications based on a priority filing in another country. We also have expertise in Patent Cooperation Treaty practice, and regularly file for our clients PCT requests, and demands and responses to both PCT procedural and substantive requirements.
